Title: Rhythm of Three (Rule of Three #2)
Author: Kelly Jamieson
Length: 137 pages
Rating: 4 stars
Warning: It is recommended that you don’t read the following synopsis and review, as it will contain spoilers. If you’ve already read book 1, then carry on. ; )
One woman, two lovers. Double the pleasure, or double the trouble?
Former goodie-two-shoes Kassidy now has three pairs of shoes under her bed—hers, Chris’s and Dag’s. While she relishes the hot threesome that makes her friends jealous, she can’t deny things are…complicated. Namely, whom to tell about their unconventional relationship, and whom to keep in the dark.
In the dark category? Definitely Chris’s parents, which should be simple, since they live far away. Except they’ve sprung a surprise for their son’s thirtieth birthday. They’re coming for a visit. Then there’s Kassidy’s best friend Danielle, who’s home from Europe, clueless to recent events, and flirting with Dag like crazy.
Family, friends, coworkers and a wedding put three lovers’ best intentions to the test, making them wonder if this unique brand of love has a chance in hell of working out.
Warning: Contains three vulnerable hearts engaged in a ménage a trois, some man-on-man action, sizzling exchanges of graphic language, and rock-your-socks explicit sex. So yeah, it’s dirty, but also sweet.
Jeez, I haven’t even started my review and there are 2 warnings? Given the theme, I’ll give you a third warning. This review contains some NC-17 language with some M/M action. You’ve been warned x3.
This novella kicks off where the last one ended, with Kassidy, Dag and Chris giving it a go with their new polyamorous relationship. The threesome have some struggles as they adjust to the lifestyle and new feelings, particularly for Chris. While he never had feelings for men before, he can’t deny that he has a connection to Dag. It takes some time for him to explore those feelings, but one night, when Kassidy is out with friends, things heat up between the two men and man oh man it is . . .

. . . . . so hot! While this story is told in the third person, the author doesn’t hold back in sharing Chris’ feelings during this moment.
Holy fuck. Holy holy fuck. Sensation pounded through Chris, relentless, scorching hot, his balls so tight at the root of his cock as Dag tongued them again. Pressure built inside him and he slid his mouth off Dag’s cock and gasped, “Gotta stop.”
He pushed into Dag’s body. Oh Jesus. Jesus Christ. He gritted his teeth at the pleasure that poured through him. His skin burned and tingled all over, his balls drawing up tight.
Like the author said in the synopsis, there is dirty but there is also sweet.
(I just love the not so hidden message of that picture.)
Beyond their exploration with each other, the threesome slowly begins to expose the relationship to friends and family. Some receiving the news well, providing relief and laughs, others not taking it well and causing tension among everyone. Although the relationship wasn’t traditional, it went thru a lot of the hurdles that any other normal relationship would have, and showed how deeply their feelings ran for one another. As a symbol of their growth, they share a meaningful and thoughtful gift with each other on their birthdays, which was very sweet.
This relationship was weird, for many reasons, but it struck her that not only was there one relationship between the three of them, there were also three relationships between each of them.
This book covers a larger time span than the first, so there’s more direction and commitment to the relationship. Next up, Reward of Three, where the relationship takes an interesting turn. Until then, happy humping.
