I lie to survive.

Have since I was sixteen and my world fell into chaos. But I found a way to endure, or rather it found me. Now I’m a prisoner of my own doing, hiding behind a false mask so no one sees the truth. Not even the man I want but can’t have—Deck. But I messed up and the lies are spilling over, out of control.

Deck is unrelenting and will settle for nothing less than the truth. He demands everything from me—EVERYTHING—even if it rips me apart.

I kill for a living.

Unyielding—It’s how I survive in my line of work. I bend people to my will…except Georgie.

But that ends now.

I’ve played her game for far too long, but not anymore. Now I think it’s time we play mine.

*18+ due to sexual content, strong language and violence.

MG Review

I have to say this, not sure if Grace agrees (maybe she will), but I was not expecting to read what I just read in Perfect Chaos, and I love that. Like so many readers of Nash’s books, I couldn’t wait to read Deck and Georgie’s story. He was so brooding in the Tears Asunder Series and Georgie was all flirty that I was expecting something totally different with Perfect Chaos.

I would agree with Michelle. Going into this story, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but this was A LOT different than I expected. And that’s why Nash’s books are fun to read. They aren’t a cookie cutter story and are as far from predictable as I have seen in a long time, which makes it a pleasure to read.

Georgie’s story really broke my heart into tiny pieces. The devastation of “losing” her brother and the dark things from her past had me at the edge of my seat. I kept thinking to myself, “am I reading this correctly, this couldn’t happen to Georgie”, but that’s what I love about Nash’s writing, she will implement these characters from her previous books and when you read their story it is nothing that you would have expected.

My impressions of Georgie from the previous Tear Asunder series were that she was a bit of a mess. Reckless. Out of control. And little did I know, that’s exactly how she wanted to be perceived. She effectively created a smoke screen of sorts as to what she was really up to. To avoid spoilers, I won’t give any details away. But she takes a tragedy and rather spiral out of control, attempts to gain control. She may have bitten off more than she could chew and the author throws in a number of twists, with manipulation playing a big role. As the story developed, I lost more trust in those around her. Everyone seemed to have an ulterior motive. Some more harmful than others. However, one person stands by her side thru it all. A man she has loved for years. A man she never thought she would have. Deck.

I had assumed that Georgie and Deck had previously hooked up, but that wasn’t the case at all! Deck had made a silly promise to Georgie’s brother Connor (who he served with in the military) that she was not to be touched. Boy did that change quickly, well not really, it was 10 years in the making. Deck to Georgie: “Connor wanted better for you. I want better for you.” I met his dark tormented eyes and said softly. “You’re my better, Deck.”

Despite his harboring feelings for Georgie, Deck seemed to keep his distance from her. Her illusion of a downward spiral seemed to fool him, and felt like he was losing the girl he used to know. When that illusion is exposed, he can no longer fight his feelings, despite a promise. (Side note: I personally felt that what information was revealed about Conner also contributed to his decision to ignore the promise).

One thing is for certain, when Deck decides to move things forward, he doesn’t wait it out. He is full speed ahead, oozing his Alpha dominance over her.

This story has a bit of an break in the story, not exactly a cliffhanger.  But just a sense of more to come.  The next book will feature Kai and London, and given Deck’s connection to Vault and Georgie’s brother, I don’t think this is the last we’ll hear in their story.
