Synopsis

Power. Money. Control. Love.
He has all but one.

When movie star, Evan Carlson, discovers his girlfriend’s picture with another man splashed on the cover of gossip magazines, he decides he’s had enough of his fishbowl life and attempts to outrun the media frenzy his relationships have become. Driving until the road stops, he ends up on the remote and quaint Perry Island, where a heartthrob can blend in like the locals and be a beach bum as long as he wants. All that changes when Evan meets Haven Owen, aspiring songwriter and the girl he just can’t get enough of. A summer romance turns into something much deeper and Evan gets tangled in his own web of lies to keep Haven in his life. But when his ex tracks him down, Evan learns there are some things you just can’t outrun.

Is the cost of love, losing all control?

Michelle's Review

One of the many things I love about blogging is that I get to read different genres besides my favorite, which is Erotica. This New Adult novel can be read as a standalone and from what I can gather, Evan was mentioned in a previous novel by Ms. Foster.

Evan Carlson is over having to deal with anything Hollywood, Paparazzi and his cheating girlfriend. So off he lands in Perry Island, a quiet little town off the beaten path away from the glitz and glamour. He immediately feels right at home, especially since he thinks no one knows he’s an actor. He assumes the name of Jay, an aspiring writer to the locals.

Haven Owens has just graduated from college and living back in Perry Island. She hates Perry Island. She just wants to be a song writer in the hopes that someone will discover her talents as such so she can get away from this boring place she calls home. In the meantime, she has to work at her father’s general store to earn her keep. She has a very strained relationship with her father and soon you will find out why.

Evan had met Haven briefly upon his arrival to Perry Island, but little did he know, he would be helping her out of a big situation at the store. He overhears a conversation with her dad regarding hiring someone for the store since Tyler, whom has been in love with Haven and she won’t return his love, has since quit the store.

Soon Evan (Jay) and Haven’s relationship begins to blossom, but at what cost? He feels guilty about not telling her who he really is, but soon the lies begin to unravel. And Evan thinking he was helping Haven with her music career will, somehow bite him in the ass.

Again, this is a standalone novel, and a pretty quick read. The chemistry between Haven and Evan was very hot at best. I did feel left wanting to know what happen to Haven’s music career. It was left a little too open for me. You get a glimpse as to what happens, but I really wanted to know more. There was also an unanswered question about her and her father’s relationship, although somewhat resolved, I wanted to know if she called him out on the secret she knew about him. Overall, a good read.
