Synopsis

Sometimes the past bleeds into the future.

Bess, a wild party girl running from herself, literally falls victim to her demons when she collapses in the most unexpected of places.
Lane, a tightly wound, up-and-coming CEO who can’t seem to stop enabling his brother, doesn’t know what hit him when Bess falls at his feet and into his life.

It was a night she doesn’t remember, and one he can’t forget.

But rather than stay and help the needy college coed, Lane decides to teach his brother a long overdue lesson––a decision that later comes back to haunt him and only adds fury to the transgressions of his past he is already fleeing from.
Years later, Bess and Lane meet again. She doesn’t know him, and he doesn’t share that he knows what happened on that ill-fated night when she almost died. After all, he has a web of complicated lies from his own youth to protect.

Both are seeking salvation in the arms of others and ignoring the truth—that the only road to redemption lies in confronting your past.

When the past and present collide, is there any chance at redemption?

Michelle's Review

Some secrets, some lies, some tears, sexy times, strong female most of all a very good book.

At the beginning of the book, our leading lady is your ultimate party girl, so much of a partier that she attends a Yoga class very high and during said class becomes unconscious. Enter, Lane who is attending the same class to save his identical twin brother’s ass yet again. He’s very intrigued by the hot “smelly” girl next to until to topples over him. Moving 5 years later, Bess is trying to live a quiet sober life. Her solace is her work and not forming too many intimate friendships. Her other crutch is her sponsor AJ, I wasn’t a fan of AJ.

When Lane reenters Bess’ life, she does not remember him, but he remembers the hot girl he tried saving. Although he never stayed to find out what happened to her, he always thought about her. He has become a sought out entrepreneur and the hotel that Bess is working, wants Lane’s business. Lane cannot believe his luck, he wants to get to know Bess, several awkward meetings lead them to become better acquainted.

Besides Bess’s struggles to maintain her sobriety in tack and the fact that she made a monumental mistake with AJ, she gives Lane a chance. Lane has some inner demons himself, add the fact that he’s always trying to save his brother’s ass, leads to many uncovered lies.

This book was a slow build up, but not so much that you would want to put it down. I sense that the author really wanted to give you the bigger picture regarding Bess and Lane. She wants you to get to the crux of their past. There was some heartbreaking and tissue worthy moments. Noteworthy, this book in a dual POV, which I love because you get into both characters mind on what they are feeling. I am looking for to Jake’s book (he’s the twin). I need to know why he’s so self absorbed and always going to Lane to fix his messes up.

I really enjoyed Ms. Blaufeld’s writing style, I was not disappointed. I cannot wait to keep adding her books to my TBR list.
