Book Review: Heart of Dixon by Danielle Jamie

Book: Heart of Dixon (Brooklyn #2)
Author: Danielle Jamie
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Length: 210 pages
Rating: 4 stars

Life can change in a matter of seconds. One minute you’re laughing and enjoying life feeling invincible. Then BAM! Everything changes in a blink of an eye.

My life has always been one big crazy party. That is until everything spiraled out of control. We made a catastrophic misjudgment putting trust in two people with evil intentions. Sadly none of us knew until it was too late. Now my best friend’s life is hanging in the balance and danger still lurks in the shadows.

To make matters worse the ‘never fall in love’ motto I had all of my life just flew out the window at the worst time possible as I find myself torn between two men. What do you do when your heart is pulling you in one direction but your head is pulling you in another?

I can’t help but fear that all of my life before this moment was just the calm before the storm.

Michelle's Review

I read Wasted Love earlier this year (  Book 2 picks up after what happened in book 1.  Brooklyn’s BFF Savannah was kidnapped by the pycho gay guys, she was found, but now is in a coma.  You also know that Dixon went to go see Brooklyn, in LA, so when Savannah landed in the hospital, Dixon was giving emotional support to both Brooklyn and his cousin Kayden.

Dixon doesn’t do relationships as we all know, neither does Brooklyn, but reading Brooklyn’s POV, you can see she is changing her tune.  I have a few wild hook ups with Dixon, and now I’m questioning everything I thought I ever wanted.

Dixon he’s all over the place with his feelings towards Brooklyn.  But then you read his thoughts “She’s just a chick. I’m Dixon Fucking Beaumont. I don’t fall in love. I fuck. End. Of. Story.” I am trying to figure out what is Dixon’s real problem with relationships in general and although the book is named Heart of Dixon, I thought I would get more into his head.  Don’t get me wrong, I liked being in Brooklyn’s head, I am finally seeing a different side to her from the first book, Wasted Love.

And there is that dirt bag still on the loose, the one that hurt Savannah.  Towards the end of the book, Brooklyn and Dixon are finally going to give their relationship a go, but Brooklyn has to break the news to Jax.  Remember Jax, Savannah’s sexy bodyguard?  But before she can say anything, Savannah, Kayden, Brooklyn and Dixon are headed off to Vegas.  What can happen, right?  Well that is where the author left us off and I wanted to scream lol.

I wasn’t too happy with Dixon in this book.  Both Dixon and Brooklyn are extremely stubborn.  A lot of the drama could have been avoided if these two would communicate with each other.  I hope when the last book comes out, these two characters work their communication problems ASAP.  I enjoyed this book a little more than the first.  Danielle has a good writing style and you are never bored.  The sexy times are on point that’s for sure.  Hurry up with the last book Danielle, lol.
