Blog Tour (Book Review & Giveaway): Discovering Delilah by Melissa Foster

Title: Discovering Delilah (Harborside Nights #2)
Author: Melissa Foster
Genre: New Adult
Length: 348 pages
Rating: 4.5 stars

After the death of her parents on the day of her college graduation, Delilah Armstrong thought she could finally follow her heart and come out to her closest friends, but the guilt of going against her parents’ beliefs haunts her. The feelings she has for her best friend, Ashley, are stronger than anything she’s felt before, but Delilah has never even kissed a girl, and fear stops her at every turn.

Ashley Carver promised herself that she would never again date another girl who wasn’t out, but that was before she met intoxicatingly sweet and sexy Delilah.

When another girl offers to teach Delilah the ropes, it changes Delilah’s whole world and gives her the courage to go after the only girl she really wants. But coming out isn’t as easy as Delilah imagined, and moving past her parents’ death and the feelings of guilt she is left with is even harder. The intense passion between Ashley and Delilah is too strong to deny, but coming together means risking everything.

Discovering Delilah is an edgy, evocative, romantic story of friendship, family, and the courage to love.

Michelle's Review

Delilah and Wyatt have decided to leave all things Connecticut and concentrate on their beach front home their parents had and their local pub.  Harborside you will note, is a lot more diverse and laid back. While Delilah is still struggling with her sexuality, she finds comfort in a friend from counseling, Janessa.  But Delilah cannot get her thoughts out of Ashley Carver.  She’s the one woman that really gets her motor running.  Janessa discovers Delilah’s plight through conversation and offers Delilah a one-time deal to see if what Delilah is feeling for women is true.  I will admit, I was a bit nervous about this little situation, things usually do not end well, when trying to help a friend out.

Once Delilah discovers that Ashley has the same feelings towards her, things got very interesting.  My heart broke for both these women.  Although Delilah loved these new feelings, her guilt that she is betraying her parents, although dead, was so impactful.  Oh and Ashley, what a patient and wonderful girlfriend.  Ashley knew the struggles Delilah was having, slowly but surely, Delilah was opening up.  There was a moment in the book that my heart raced and the tears started flowing.

The book has alternating POVs which I love because I can get into the mindset of the main characters.  I also adored the secondary characters within the story.   You will adore Brandon and his inappropriateness lol.  Everyone should have a loving twin brother like Wyatt (I really need to read Chasing Cassidy).  Although this was my first time reading a Melissa Foster book, it will not be my last.

I do want to say for those of you struggling to “come out” to family, friends, etc., this is the book for you to read.  Or if you know someone that is struggling, please have them read this book.

  1. I love when alternating POV is done well – some authors can’t do it, but when it’s done right, it’s so good!
