Reeling from a recent break-up, Anne is surprised when she meets Jim, her handsome ER doctor. She’s been burned one too many times before, with the most recent relationship fail happening not even an hour before they meet! Catching her on-again-off-again now definitely-off-again boyfriend with her roommate, in her own living room, was definitely not how she planned on spending her Saturday. She definitely didn’t plan on spending it in the ER either!

It’s not been Anne’s best day, to say the least!

Jim’s been looking for ‘The One’ for what seems like forever. His work hours limit his dating life and any women who come into the ER are either drunk out of their minds or are on enough drugs to make rock stars jealous. Getting involved with a patient is the last thing that he wants or needs.

Until Anne.

Will Jim and Anne get their happy ever after or does Ben, her best guy friend, have intentions of his own?

Sometimes, you have to close your eyes and listen to your heart in order to see the future.

Michelle's Review

This funny contemporary novella is Rae Daniel’s debut as an author.  Anne Daily is having the worst day ever, not only is she sick as a dog but catches the guy the guy that she’s been dating getting it on with her roommate.  After kicking both of them out, she has her BFF Renee take her to the ER because she believes she’s dying lol. Enter Dr. McHottie, or rather Dr. Jim.  The inner monologues Anne has over her hot doctor are so funny.

Dr. Jim Ross can’t be having wild fantasies about his patient.  He’s immediately in instant lust with Anne, but he needs to keep things professional.  After making sure she’s discharged, he makes sure he programs all his numbers to make sure Anne is doing well after her bout with pneumonia.  Things got really hot and heavy between Jim and Anne. He’s super Alpha!  Anne is loving all the attention, until Jim misinterprets a conversation he overhears all hell breaks loose.

I can consider this a novel since it’s really a novella because it was super quick to read.  I loved the funny banter, if you can make me laugh, I’m a fan.  I don’t mind the insta-love, but I wanted more depth and a plot.  I wished the author would have been this a full length so see more character development between Anne and Jim. I adored Anne’s BFF Renee. That Ben situation had me a little nervous, but things worked itself out.  I like reading from new authors, and I did laugh out loud so that’s a plus.  Hopefully for Ms. Daniel’s next novel we can get more of character development between the h/h.  Overall, a very funny and enjoyable read.
