YaYa's Review

What can I say about Elastic Hearts?

VICTOR. Just kidding. But I mean he’s one delicious suit.

This was difference then the two previous stories. Here we have a woman who jumps from a few sexcapades with one of her father’s lawyers right into a marriage. I felt like she was young and didn’t give her self any time to explore herself. She marries an actor who has no time for her but his rise in fame. Marriage falls apart and now who’s going to be her lawyer… dun dun dun… you got it. Victor. According to her father he is nothing but the best. That’s what she said. Pun intended and all.

What is the big deal?

Well hello, his her lawyer. When she was having her little rendezvous with him he was only a lawyer, now he’s her lawyer and he’s also up for a promotion. This is where I get a little ticked off. Victor can be a big prick. I secretly love that but one thing that had me flying off the handles what’s how into his job he was. Like nothing else mattered. The type of man who puts his job before anything else. That’s a major turn off for me. Luckily he can’t resist (whatever her name is).

If I was careless I’d stay.

I wanted to grab them both by the neck and beat them red. Those 2 had no control on what they wanted. On the one hand I felt like (wtf is her name) was being played like a puppet on strings. Her ex easily manipulated her into still making believe they were the perfect couple in the public eye. Scum. How I loathe that piece of shit. Victor should’ve shoved those Cuban cigars up your ass.

I need this more than I needed anything in my fucking life.

So put yourself in these shoes… trying to divorce not only the actor husband, but the paparazzi, while secretly wishing you were doing the dirty deed with your lawyer who you actually at one point were doing the dirty deed with, meanwhile trying for your daddy not to find out and fire him. That pretty much sums up (fuckface)’s dilemma. Throw in some angst, reappearance characters, Hollywood, and you’ve got yourself Elastic Hearts.

I felt something when I looked at you. Something weird. Something…not normal.

Grace Review

Ever since book one, I’ve wanted Victor’s story.  He seemed so guarded on the relationship front, and now I know why.  The guy has always put work first.  And he makes that crystal clear in the prologue.  Ouch!

Nicole has never gotten over Victor, the man who asked her to walk away.  Yet, he never expected her to do what she did.  It didn’t line up with the girl he knew.  And while he is as committed as ever to the job, especially with the promise of a big promotion on the line, he can’t get her out of his head.  Was she the one that got away?  Clearly.  Is he going to give up everything for a second chance?  Don’t count on it.

While you may get frustrated with one of both of the main characters, what this book gives you is some serious sexual tension, obvious chemistry, and eventually, some really hot moments when the two give in.

“Your ass is mine.  Your pussy is mine.  Your tits are mine.  Fucking say it.”

From the moment they are in the same room with each other once again, you could sense the sizzling tension brewing between them.  There’s some heavy flirting and Nicole does everything she can to try to get him to give in.  His responsibilities as a lawyer, and the risk that he would be taking, only makes the tension grow between them.  I thought the cat and mouse game was more hot than frustrating.  However, when they weren’t in the same room, I felt a bit differently.

I had two main issues with the main characters, but I’ll admit that without this included in the story, the drama would have been less.

For Nicole, I didn’t like how dependent she seemed on companionship.  I can give her a pass about moving on to Gabriel in the first place.  He’s a hot movie star that gave her the love and attention she craved.  As she and Victor are beginning to explore things a second time around, and communication breaks down, she keeps talking about jumping into bed with someone else. It’s the whole idea of “the best way to get over someone is get under someone”, which I didn’t care for.  Some of her dependence on attention was just thoughts in her head, which she never acted upon.  However, she clearly used Brent to upset Victor and I wasn’t sure how I felt about that.

Then, I didn’t like how she did so much to help Gabe.  He did not deserve it in my opinion, and I felt like he didn’t lose anything in the story.  He got what he wanted EVERY F**ING TIME!  And it’s clear he didn’t deserve half as much.  Maybe I’d give him a pass if he put his agent in his place, but nope.  So that irked me.

For Victor, it seemed to take forever for him to put Nicole before his job.  I felt bad in that he seemed to be repeating what she went thru with Gabe, minus one key thing.  I wish he had been more upfront with his plans, it could have saved Nicole a lot of heartache.

In the end, what makes the story work is the undeniable chemistry between Nicole and Victor. Had they reconnected after Gabriel was out of the picture, it would have been a very different story, but I think, it would have the same ending.  Victor is not the same man he was in their first go around, and that makes all the difference.

“Haven’t you learned by now? . . . I always get what I want.”

*An ARC was received for an honest review.

“This isn’t going to work,” he said finally, turning to face me as he stood behind the desk.

“This. Us. Me on this case. It’s not going to work.”

“Because you want to fuck me against the window,” I said.

He gripped the top of the chair tightly and dropped his head, but didn’t comment on what I’d said. “Maybe we should just see each other when we have to . . . for the divorce,” he said.

I let out a laugh. “I didn’t plan to come here tonight, let alone run into you.”

“You’re right,” he said, meeting my gaze. “You’re right, but we should still stick to that plan.”

“As my lawyer, I don’t think you should let me make rash decisions when I’m drunk,” I said. He looked down again, but I saw his smile before he tried to hide it.

“I’m serious, Nicole.”

“That’s fine, Victor. I get it. Is that it? I was talking to a really cute guy upstairs, and I still need to use the restroom. Maybe I’ll take him with me.” Even in my current state, I could see the way his eyes darkened at my suggestion.

“You just said you were drunk,” he growled, gripping the chair harder.

“Not that drunk.” I paused to search his face. “Would that upset you? If I hooked up with that guy in the bathroom? I kind of like bathroom hookups.”

“Nicole,” he said, his tone hard, his eyes searing into mine.

“You know, you’re actually the only guy I’ve done that with,” I admitted. “But it was so hot. You kept saying all these dirty things in my ear, remember?”

“I remember,” he said, voice grating.

“You were doing that,” I said, pointing at his fingers, which were digging into the top of the chair. “Gripping my ass. I had marks the next day, the soreness. So hot.”

“Nicole,” he growled.
