Fame, fortune, and stadiums full of screaming fans are right around the corner for the rock band at the heart of Stina Lindenblatt’s steamy, intense Pushing Limits series. But it’s an epic love affair that steals the show in this opening act.

When Nolan Kincaid skipped town to chase the music career of his dreams, he knew he wouldn’t miss the reminders of his broken family—he wasn’t so sure he could forget the girl he left behind. Now his band is touring nonstop, the recording sessions go all night, and the groupies are crazed. But when he hears that Hailey Wilkins is in trouble, he drops everything.

Hailey thought she’d missed her chance with Nolan. Five years ago, the moment she realized she loved him was the moment he decided to leave. Now, when a brutal assault lands her in the ICU, Nolan flies straight to her bedside, acting like nothing’s changed. What’s a rock star like him doing, canceling shows and risking his record deal, just to nurse an old friend back to health? And why should Hailey believe he’ll stay this time?

With her attacker still at large, Nolan’s ready to rise to the occasion. He knows he let Hailey down once before, but he’s ready to give her everything, heart and soul—and he’ll fight for the chance to prove it.

Michelle's Review

This is a friends to lovers or a second chance at love type of book.  Nolan Kincaid left his hometown and his best friend Hailey whom he has loved throughout five years ago to pursue not only his music career, but also a harrowing trauma.  As Nolan is on tour with his band, he receives an urgent phone call from his friend Brandon that Hailey is in the ICU in a coma.  Nolan is on the next flight out to see the girl or rather woman he left oh those years ago.

As soon as Hailey wakes up from her coma, she’s wondering if she was hallucinating while still in her coma.  The voice she kept hearing and never forgotten is at her bedside.  She too was madly in love with Nolan.  Before he left, they never declared their love for each other.  She’s suffering from amnesia as to her how she landed in the hospital in a coma.

This is my first time reading Stina Lidenblatt.  Although I enjoyed the storyline, certain aspects of the book had me a bit confused.  For someone who was in a coma, Hailey recuperated really quickly.  The thriller plot of the story fell a little flat for me when you find out who is behind putting her in a coma.  Also, Nolan’s backstory as to why he left his hometown.  I felt there was a lot going on with this book.  Although written well, I wasn’t sure where the author was taking me at times.  I did enjoy the love story unfolding.  I love reading friends to lovers stories.  I just wanted the story to focus on one thing.  I didn’t appreciate how the record label was trying to handle Nolan either.  Overall, a quick read.  So if you like friends to lovers read then This One Moment is for you.
