Inside the Author with 20 Questions: Cherry Shephard

1. What is one thing about you that would surprise us?
I come across as extremely confident and the life of the party, but the truth is I’m painfully shy in real life. It takes a bit for me to loosen up and have fun. I would much rather be at home with a great horror movie or a new book and a block of chocolate than actually talk to people. , I’ve often been described as snobby because of this, but it’s so far from the truth that it’s almost laughable.

2. What would an ideal day be for you?
Drinking a coffee at sunrise on the beach as I reflect on life, followed by a big breakfast of bacon, scrambled eggs and thick toast before a morning stroll around a market with my family. In the afternoon I’d love to curl up with a book or write a full chapter before going out to a nice dinner and a few drinks with my closest friends, before back home to hang out in my pajamas.

3. What is your favorite curse word?
Can I say cunt? Because it’s cunt. If not, my favourite curse word is fuck. I use both words at a minimum of 20 times a day. I think my record is 43…

4. What is your favorite movie?
Oh man, this is such a hard one! I love so many different movies, but I’m a horror girl at heart. I love movies that keep me on the edge of my seat and make me jump as my heart races. Not so much into gore, but give me a really great jump scare and I’m set.

5. What is your favorite indulgence?
I’d love to be really normal and say chocolate, but it’s a big bowl of scrambled eggs with salt and pepper and toast with lots of butter. Add a can of Mother energy drink and I’m happy.

6. What profession would you not like to do?
I think all jobs are beneficial, everyone pays their dues and is a respectable member of society. However, if I’m being honest, I don’t think I could handle being a school teacher. I have three children that I adore, but I have very little patience for other people’s children. That’s not to say I don’t like them, often they’re the sweetest and most well-behaved children around. I just like things a certain way, whereas other parents will teach their kids to do things their way. They come over and I’m like “no, the toilet paper goes the other way on the roll, and we don’t try to bath our cats in the toilet.”

7. Who is your celebrity crush?
Just one? Nu uh, no way. I love Chris Hemsworth, Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns, Jared Leto, Kevin Sorbo… pretty much any man with long hair and muscles. *swoon*

11. What are your least favorite foods?
Spinach, anchovies, chicken wings/drumsticks.

12. You are at a concert, who are you with and who are you seeing?
I’d love to say I’m with Mr S watching Slipknot, but there’s a strong probability I’m with one of my friends screaming at the Backstreet Boys.
