Genre: Romantic Suspense
Length: 216 pages

In the steamy and suspenseful sequel to Sugar Daddy (“A totally gripping take on romance and revenge!”—Lauren Blakely), a heartbreaking rift threatens to unravel a dangerous alliance . . . and a fragile new love.

After posing as an escort for the Sugar Bowl online dating service, Sela Halstead is looking for one thing: payback. She’s closing in on the site’s heartless founder, Jonathon Townsend, and she needs Beckett North, Townsend’s business partner and her lover, by her side. She’d thought that their intimate nights together had forged an unbreakable bond, but after a shocking betrayal, Sela begins to doubt the brilliant bad boy. When push comes to shove, can she trust Beck to do the right thing?

Now that he understands the truth, Beck will stop at nothing to secure the reckoning Sela deserves. But between his desire for her and his disgust for JT, Beck doesn’t exactly have a lot of control over his emotional state. Left with no other choice, he must summon all his discipline to maintain JT’s trust and pretend that they’re still friends. But how far will Beck go to prove his loyalty to Sela? He nearly lost her once. To keep her, Beck might have to kill for her.

Note: Sugar Rush ends on a cliffhanger. Sela and Beck’s story concludes in Sugar Free!

Grace Review

Building the perfect revenge, this author delivers a second installment to this trilogy, which will leave your mind spinning.

If you read book one, you know that ending hurt.  But this author isn’t a total sadist and she resolves some of the anxiety early.  From there, she builds the relationship between Sela and Beck.  One with compassion, trust, and a deep level of protection for the other.  Despite the twist Beck delivers about JT, I was surprised how willing he was to help Sela get revenge, and how far he took it.

While Sela still has a bit of blood lust in mind, Beck is good about talking her down off the ledge.  Instead, with the help of an investigator, they put a plan into place to get JT out of their lives and out of his business.  The plan is clever and hard hitting.  I won’t say how much of that plan works, but I can say that JT isn’t the type to go down without a fight.  And I don’t trust him one bit.

Without giving anything away, both Sela and Beck individually mention a backup plan and I think that will haunt them in book three.  With the way this one ended, their rocky road is just beginning.

Most of this book is sexy and romantic, as the couple grow closer together.  Holidays.  Vacations.  Family gatherings.  So the ending was a bit unexpected.  This author throws in twist after twist after twist at you in the closing pages, living me gapping like a fish out of water.  I’m expected big things in book three, and I hope the author knocks it out of the park.
