My relationship with Hunter Delucia started backwards.

We met at a wedding—him sitting on the groom’s side, me sitting on the bride’s. Stealing glances at each other throughout the night, there was no denying an intense, mutual attraction.

I caught the bouquet; he caught the garter. Hunter held me tightly while we danced and suggested we explore the chemistry sparking between us. His blunt, dirty mouth should’ve turned me off. But for some crazy reason, it had the opposite effect on me.

We ended up back in my hotel room. The next morning, I headed home to New York leaving him behind in California with the wrong number.

I thought about him often, but after my last relationship, I’d sworn off of charming, cocky, gorgeous-as-sin men. A year later, Hunter and I met again at the birth of our friends’ baby. Our attraction hadn’t dulled one bit. After a whirlwind trip, he demanded a real phone number this time. So I left him with my mother’s—she could scare away any man with her talks of babies and marriage—and flew back home.

I’d thought it was funny, until the following week when he rang the bell at Mom’s house for Sunday night dinner. The crazy, gorgeous man had won over my mother and taken an eight-week assignment in my city. He proposed we spend that time screwing each other out of our systems.

Eight weeks of mind-blowing sex with no strings attached? What did I have to lose?

Nothing, I thought.

It’s just sex, not love.

But you know what they say about the best laid plans…

Chemistry . . .
Natalia “Nat” Rossi and Hunter Delucia have it.
It is undeniable.
But it takes time for both to give into the desires that build between them.

On the outside, Hunter is an easy guy to figure out. He enjoys sex, and he wants to have a lot of it. With Natalia. And that’s all he wants. Because Hunter has a secret that won’t allow him to take things further.
On the flip side, Natalia wasn’t so easy to figure out. Probably because her actions didn’t seem to line up with her feelings. At times she was a bit maddening, but I’ll get back to that.

The men in Natalia’s life have left her with little comfort and hope for a forever after. Starting with her Dad, and followed by her now ex-husband, Garrett. As the sole parental figure of her ex-husband’s daughter, Izzy, and she is forced to be a mom early, for a moody teenager. So, there isn’t much room for a man at the moment. And this is why Hunter seems like the best thing that could ever happen for her.
Hot man.
No strings.
Great chemistry.
Yet Natalia keeps pushing him away. Initially I couldn’t figure out why, but I think it had to do with her lack of trust in men, and knowing how much hurt they can cause. She was protecting herself from the “what ifs”. In hindsight, it makes sense.

“You scare the crap out of me, Hunter. But I can’t seem to walk away.”

With the book title, I expected this story to be full of sex. And we get some, eventually, but there is a whole lot of passionate kissing, followed by second thoughts, until we get there. However, when Natalia finally gives in, it is oh so hot!

“We might kill each other, but fucking to death is the way I want to go.”

Hunter was a bit of a surprise. On the surface, he is all about instant gratification, and it is very clear who he wants that gratification with. But the author throws a twist with his past. We are given nuggets of his backstory and a countdown of sorts. Personally, it was a little upsetting to read about this perfect girl in his past who was his first love. That connection that Hunter and Natalia have, seems lacking in comparison. So, I wasn’t sure why the author included it. Until the big reveal, and one clever conclusion from a patient of Natalia’s, who compares him to a Priest.

“They give up their own happiness so the people in their flock don’t get hurt.”

Then I got it, and how it tied to this story. But I’ll leave you to read about it on your own.

If you are looking for some hot chemistry and a sweet story about taking risks, check this one out.
